Laura and Jon were married at the Contemporary Art Center in Virginia Beach. Bright colors and classic, yet funky designs made this such a fun wedding to be a part of.   Many thanks to Andi Grant Photography for the beautiful photos, and Julie from As You Wish.

The Wedding Party:

The Bridal Bouquet.

A beautiful, elegant bouquet of Vendella roses (a high petal count rose with a medium sized head with a velvety cream appearance), accented with huge fragrant Stargazer lilies, also featuring our signature crystal butterfly. To finish the bouquet, we added strands of crystals to the bouquet and wrapped it in fabric. We also used the bridal gown’s embellished straps, which had been removed from the dress for a custom touch.

The Bridal Party! Hot pink tulips and Noreen Lilies were wrapped and embellished with broaches as well. The hot pink looks gorgeous against the bridesmaids dresses.

 The Ceremony:

 Two iron arches were decorated, between the two arches we added our clear rod and covered it with natural greens and flowers: Stargazer lily’s, green Fuji mums, Hot Princess roses (hot pink), Vendella roses and hot pink tulips, with accents of greens to soften. We displayed altar arrangements to frame the arches on our wrought iron pedestals.  The altar arrangements included two of our glass and iron vases with Stargazer lily’s, hot pink glads, green Fuji mums, and Hot Princess roses accented with greens. 

Our glass pew markers displayed a stargazer lily in each, placed the back of the chairs on each aisle.  The flowers and decor from the ceremony were all re-used in the reception in various areas.

The Reception:

The round guest tables featured our votive and glass centerpieces, sitting on the rose bowls with flowers underneath the glass with Stargazer lily's, pink tulips, accented with hot pink alstromeria, and hot pink Hot Princess roses, and a light accent of greens to soften the look.

Dramatically dangling from the trees in the grouping of tables we added our hanging globes with open Hot Princess roses.

On the long tables, we added one of our large palace vases, bursting with Stargazer lily’s, Hot Princess roses, and various greens. Inside of the vase featured hot pink Dendrobium orchids.  We added new floating globes (2) on either side of the palace vases.  We used green hydrangea in the floating globes with candles to create a soft and magical illuminated look.

 Glass cylinders were used to to create a unique cup cake stand.  The glass cylinders contained water and hot pink Dendrobium orchids, and were accented with blooms of Dendrobium on the cup cakes and glass.

The arch from the ceremony was used to frame the cupcake display. CONGRATS TO LAURA AND JON!

 After a fabulous ceremony on Saturday at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, Jodi and Matt had a Sunday Reception at The Crystler Museum of Art.  We provided all floral decor, the gazebo for the sweetheart table, and draping for the grand staircase. Distinctive Event Rentals provided the linens and chairs. The reception was extraordinarily special, as a team of amazing vendors and colleagues came together to create an unforgettable reception for the very special Matt and Jodi. 

The layout included both long and round tables, which allowed us to create unique and flowing tablescapes, incorporating flowers with fresh fruits, crystal candelabra, and unique containers.  Heirloom china was used from both Jodi and Daevid’s family, adding a personal and eclectic touch to each table.

The Details:

Once again, the floral decor was a total surprise to the bride and groom!

Overflowing urns contained an assortment of fresh flowers and fruits; Dark Melba roses, dark purple stock, Sourbonne lilies, hydrangea, orange hypericum berries, alstromeria, assorted ferns, and fresh oranges. Around the base of the urn, miniature pumpkins and gourdes were used as accents.

Daevid’s unique crystal candelabra were an elegant focal point, flanked on each side by table arrangements. They were dripping with green amaranthus,  Black Baccara roses, Sorbonne lilies, stock, Sahara roses, hypericum berries, Dark Melba Roses, Billy Balls, hydrangea, fresh fruits/gourdes, and assorted greenery.  Tall taper candles alternated with shorter votive candles, to illuminate both the flowers and the gorgeous crystal for a ethereal effect.

The round table arrangements featured dramatically tall glass vases with fern curls, Bells of Ireland, Black Baccara roses, Sorbonne Lilies, amaranthus, Sahara and Dark Melba roses, fresh artichokes, dusty miller, and assorted greens.

Uniquely Yours By Pearl 

It’s not often that we get to create flowers for such an important person in Daevids life.  Jodi, the owner and catering extraordinaire at Sweetwater Cuisine, is not just a colleague of Daevids, but a very special friend as well.   They have worked together, traveled together, and been close for many years.  Her trust in Daevid allowed her to say, “surprise me!” with fall themed designs that wowed everyone in attendance.

Her marriage to fiance Matt was a two day event, with the Ceremony on Saturday, and the Reception on Sunday. This is the first time that two sets of bridal bouquets and wedding party flowers were made for a wedding, to give both days a unique twist on the gorgeous fall colors and theme.  Literally thousands of the highest quality flowers were ordered, including over a thousand of the sexy Black Baccara Rose.  Fabulous photography was provided by Sam Hughes and David Schwartz.

Flowers featured in these designs include luscious dark purple stock, Sorbonne lilies, Alstromeria, whimsical yellow Billy Balls (Craspedia), Dark Melba Roses, Fern Curls, fluffy multi-toned Hydrangea, green draping Amaranthus, Italian Ruscus with berries, and assorted premium greenery.

The setting was the beautiful Lion’s Crest at The Biltmore Estates. Thank you Dana Duncan, for the amazing photos. Thank you to Creative Coverings, Jeremy and Ben of Blue Steel, Wildflower Linens, Norma from Distinctive, Rodney Charles, Sweetwater, Nichole and her staff from the Biltmore, Paper Whytes, and the Hulseys for giving us the chance to work at the Biltmore.

Teal paper bags accented with fall foliage. Inside were rose petals for guests to toss as the newlyweds walked down the aisle.

No rice…. but petals to throw to celebrate Laurie & Jason’s walk up the aisle.

Guest left for cocktails as the room the ceremony was in was transformed into the reception.

Above the head table hung two glimmering beaded chandeliers.

We transformed our beaded chandeliers using green dendrobium and orange vanda orchids.

Every aspect matched perfectly from the gold rimmed goblets to the orange covered seat cushions, even all gold flatware.

Every little detail matters. Gold votives and glittering butterflies accented the place settings at the head table.

The brides bouquet was simple and elegant with white callas seated in lime green hydrangea, wrapped in white and accented with a brooch.

In the center of each table stood a towering arrangement of natural tree branches growing up and out of our large glass 28″ cylinders.

A beautiful altar created by suspending sheer fabric from from to ceiling. Silkscreens of trees and clear acrylic pedestals and uplighting provided by Blue Steele set the stage. Graceful arching calla lilies, orange Vanda orchids, Bells of Ireland, green Fuji mums and burnt orange Spicy roses grew up and out of tall tree branches. After the ceremony, the altar was converted into the perfect backdrop for the cake table as you can see in this photo.

Many floating candles help make the perfect wedding atmosphere. The orange orchids and deep purple linens go perfectly together.
